University Club's 4th Annual Charity Gala

University Club members and guests were invited September 16th, 2011 to be 'bad' for a good cause.... Actually 3 great causes.

And the Social Diary was there to support and to highlight some of the fun at the Club’s 4th Annual Charity Gala - Black Tie + Blue Jeans + The Blues. It was all to benefit MDA's Augie's Quest, the Employee Partners Care Foundation, and the San Diego Foundation - Lamp of Learning Scholarship.

Among the mix were quite a few of the new and young member crowd in addition to familiar faces like Michelle and Ed Langmaid, and Rebeca and Bob Page.

There was no shortage of fun people and delicious food.

There were bountiful offerings of Carved Beef, Chinese Stir Fry, Sushi, Cheeses, and Ahi Poke with Melon. The cuisine was top notch thanks to the talents of University Club Executive Chef Eric Mauritzen and his culinary team.

Libations included Champagne in flutes, wine and more.

Into the evening, the who's who of the University Club got down and partied while dancing to the fun tunes provided by The Nervous Wreckords and Ruby Blue.

A great evening for all.

On a personal note, San Diego Social Diary Magazine is pleased to support such a great event supporting great causes. Learning opportunities provided by the San Diego Foundation - Lamp of Learning, and the Employee Partners Care Foundation providing help to University Club employees in financial situations caused by health emergencies, are both part of the backbone of giving back that is a University Club tradition.

So too is Augie's Quest. Augie Nieto of Augie's Quest is a great guy who I knew back in college. He has turned the challenge of having Lou Gehrig's disease into a personal and unselfish quest to fund research for a cure. That's a cure for others in the future. Augie's Quest has raised over $15 million towards this end, with ClubCorp fundraiser's contributing around the $3 million mark.
