RANCHO
COASTAL HUMANE SOCIETY
(760-753-6413)
A glorious
summer evening at the beautiful home of Maricaye
and Don Daniels provided a magnificent backdrop
for raising funds and awareness for dogs and
other special pets. Why you ask? The special
event raised funds for the Animal Safehouse
Program at Encinitas's Rancho Coastal Humane
Society.
The concept,
unique and long labored for by Pam Slater and
others, is to give a loving home to pets of
those victimized by domestic violence. Most
abused people will not leave until they know
there is a place to go to not only for themselves
and their children, but also for their pets.
Great concept,
pets and pet lovers applaud.
Among those
there were a few happy tail wagging guests as
well as Honorary Chair Michael Tuck from News
8, Darlene White, James Quinones from Channel
10 as well as Loren Nancarrow from Channel 10
and his wife Susie, Susan Taylor from 7/39 NBC,
Off Duty Officer Scott Johnston, who in San
Diego's Northern Division responds to many 911
domestic violence calls, as well as a plethora
of guests including domestic violence survivors.
Guests enjoyed
very vegan Delta Sun catered appetisers helping
fuel the energy for healthy bidding of donated
auction items. Lucky me got the winning bid
on Pin's Wa Asian Coastal dining in Rancho Santa
Fe.
Animal appreciation
and consequences of domestic violence were the
order of the evening though. Rancho Coastal
Humane Society, Pam Slater and every guest are
applauded for their attention and effort to
providing safe havens for all "family"
members, even those with four paws!
