Project Concern International

Hosted by Saks Fifth Avenue

About PCI - “It is an organization providing much needed services in our own community, as well as internationally. The fact that it seeks to empower women is important to us. The people who are behind PCI are truly amazing. We look for ways to improve our world at every opportunity, we feel that PCI is one of those opportunities."

- Kimberly Biehl, General Manager of Saks Fifth Avenue

September 25th of 2008 marked an important consciousness and fundraising event for Project Concern International. Guests arrived to the event's host location, Saks Fifth Avenue in Fashion Valley San Diego, to learn and to spend money for a great cause. Event tickets, a percentage of shopping that night, and silent auction prizes went towards PCI's mission of embettering the world through microcredit availability to women. As George Guimaraes, President & CEO of Project International says, "to invest in a woman is to invest in a better future for the world!"

And with this spirit, a number of San Diegans came to support. Among the mix were Lael and Jay Kovtun, Jon Webb, Sally Fuller, Susan Weston, Andrea Naversen, Cristina Schwartz, and Monica Olsen.

Among the highlights of the evening were the beautiful jewelry designs of Nihisma. Her name means 'Limitless in Love' and so it logically followed with talent, Nihisma's inspired jewelry line with carefully matched stones and fetching designs.

East Indian dancers performed, guests decorated themselves with bindis, guests shopped and bid, and tasty appetizers were appreciated with Gekkeikan Sake and Tommy Bahama Rums.....

'Twas a night of fun with the underlying spirit that all people are entertwined.

The next event for PCI will be their annual Hands Across Border benefit on November 8th, 2008. South and Southeast Asia will be celebrated. 2006 Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Muhammad Yunus will honored for his microcredit programs giving loans to very poor women.
