8th Annual Starry Starry Night Benefits Voices for Children

September 10th, 2010 a significant fundraiser for Voices for Children was held at the La Jolla estate of Joan Waitt. Over $600,000 was raised to help aid children in the court system via CASA, ie. volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates.

Among the guests supporting the cause were Gigi and Ed Cramer, Greg and Terry Cooper, Nadine and Gary Barber, Lee and Stuart Posnock, Rex and Steve Romande, Kim Penny, Kerri and Drew Smith, and Co-Chairs Dawn and Bill Davidson and Caroline and Tony Farwell.

Dinner by Pamplemousse Grille included a watermelon salad, Porcini Dusted Seabass, and a Chocolate Espresso Torte.

Entertainment provided by Redfearn and Associates was the very fun Ruby and the Red Hots. And they were HOT! They played during the reception and got the party rockin' later with dancing.

Joan Waitt, hostess and Honorary Chair was honored along with her children, Sophia, Max, Emily and Hailey. With unwavering support for children's issues, the Waitt Family received the Celestial Award that evening.

Last year 1,105 children were provided with a CASA......!!

The Buzz!!

Yes we were asked to photograph Andy Roddick and Mark Philippoussis at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club last week.... their training was very intense but there were a few lighter moments. During agility competition at the net, Mark came up short and got to be the target of serves......owwwww!

..... then there were the football passes on the court.... watching them train makes it crystal clear why their careers have been so stellar.... and man they are fit!

* Margo Schwab, more formally known as Margaret E. Schwab, has produced, written, interviewed and photographed for various media organizations since 1989. Schwab attended Holton Arms School, La Jolla Country Day School and La Jolla High School. Schwab has a B.A. from Scripps College, spent a business internship with S.A.I.C., Science Applications International Corporation, and earned a Masters of Business degree, M.B.A., from the University of San Diego by way of Claremont Graduate School . Schwab additionally took college courses from Harvard University, and Syracuse University. Schwab volunteers for numerous charity organizations. She also continues to support animal organizations and the prevention of people and animal abuse. Schwab is the editor of The Social Diary.
