"Wonderful people helping wonderful causes. The love and
effort that go into putting up and taking down each decoration
for the Jewel Ball is reflected in the 50 women of Las Patronas
who pull the event together each year. This year's event, "Club
6-0", was a fun and funky tribute to
the 60 years that Las Patronas has served nonprofit oragnizations
with their contributions throughout San Diego." - Lisa Casey
"The Los Patronas
did it again---another spectacular Jewel Ball celebrating 60 years
young! And young one did feel as you walked the red carpet getting
your photo snapped by the hired paparazzi upon entering this club.
We actually felt like we were in an alley in New York City entering
the Beach & Tennis Club. In fact, one of the paparazzi became
so overwhelmed with us, that a police officer came out-of-know
where and handcuffed him, frisk him, and took him off to jail
right in front of our eyes.
It was indeed a really fun spectacular
event. All evening during the cocktail and mingle, the paparazzi
approached us with their pen to pad writing our stories and getting
our photos. They kept calling us Demi Moore and Bruce Willis and
asked us if we were really back together and hopefully would stay
together.
They told me how much they enjoyed
me in the “Charlie’s Angels” movie. It was a
real kick! Hats off to the Las Patronas and their creative skills!"
- Dianne York-Goldman
I thought the ball was a blast.
I am still recovering! Your red dress was quite
the sensation!
We were very successful in so many ways from the
high
dollars raised in the silent auction and in our
donation ticket sales, not to mention the new record
level of underwiriting. Then there was the fabulous
entertainment atop the bridge and on stage in the
ballroom, to the delicious meal prepared by the Hyatt
and those wild and crazy bartenders whipping up the
wild and crazy cocktails/martinis! Wow...what a night
and all for a wonderful cause!

from her, and her strong commitment to making sure that others
take action to prevent cancer or to deal with it at an early stage...I
was seated with the two sisters, who were included as anecdotes
in Katie's talk and hearing about the one's bout with cancer and

closer to home." - Anne

."Picabo
- Who I met once on the top of a mountain
in Telluride.Actually it was a very funny story. We were up in
Telluride for Christie
Brinkley and Ricky Taubman's wedding. Ricky is my granddaughter
Marly's
godfather so JJ, Peter, Marly, Tom and I were all there. The wedding
was up
the chair lift on the top of the mountain. We flew in that noon
and then
had to go up the mountain. I am a water baby. I love swimming,
water
skiing, scuba, tennis but I am not a mountain-snow person. I was
terrified.
They were very nice since all the guests were not skiiers and
so they
didn't make me wear skis and the slowed the chair lift so I could
get off
(I have been butted by one too many). And then we waited and waited
and I
had to go to the bathroom which by skiis wasn't far but walking
in the snow
downhill it took forever - plus it was late afternoon and the
snow was icy.
I finally got to the bathroom - was so glad to enter warmth and
a firm
floor that Imade somewhat of a dramatic to do about it. There
was only one
person in the bathroom and she was putting on make up. It was
Picabo.
Needless to say she hadn't thought it challenging making it to
the
bathroom." - Jane Fetter regarding Picabo

lingerie alone really do that?" - Matt and his Playboy Bunny
